Our mission is simple but powerful: to empower women and underrepresented communities to unlock their full potential and transform STEM fields with their talent, creativity, and resilience.
Energy Justice for Akosombo Islands
The initiative seeks to mobilize local support to encourage the Government of Ghana to facilitate the timely deployment of 35 proposed mini-grids for last-mile communities under the Ghana Scaling Up Renewable Energy Program. Additionally, the campaign promotes the integration of gender considerations and productive use practices into the planning of solar mini-grid systems, fostering inclusive and sustainable development. These areas remain unelectrified since the construction of the Akosombo hydropower dam in 1965, and the cost of extending the national grid to these scattered settlements is prohibitive.

In Ghana, women only hold 25% of all STEM jobs, and girls are significantly less likely to pursue STEM-related subjects than boys. The gender gap in STEM jobs is due to socio-cultural barriers that have impacted their interest in science and technology.
